The Singer
Singer-songwriter Barbara Alexandre’s, debut demo album, BLEAVE, tells intimate stories of life, love and loss. The melodic compositions and musical arrangements of Marco Volcy (AmeSoul, LMDS, Corneille, DonKarnage, Imposs) give this piece an original sound. Participations includes songwriter Rock Litz Maurice, musical arranger Sonny Black (Corneille, K-maro, Dubmatique) and the voice essence of the group One (Zoukin). These privileges brought the warmth and soft voices, the acoustic guitar, violin, piano and percussions of the R&B groove of the young artist. Barbara Alexandre sings with softness her most intimate stories marked by the departures, returns along with the urgency to live and to love.
It is in Montreal, her birth city, that Barbara took her first steps on the music scene. Torn between making movies, television, theater and music… She took them all! A self-taught artist, the young actress left Montreal to tour with the Canadian troop “SPIRIT OF NATION” where she discovered her singing skills. Not long after that, Barbara had the occasion to sing in Montreal, with her peers of PROCHANT music school in the Musical Theater “Les Miserables”. This play was directed by Hélène Grégoire (Watatatow, The Orphans of Duplessis).
Edging closer to a solo singing career with each production, in 2001 Barbara won the “Revelation Talent” award at the prestigious GALA REVELATION (formerly Gala Miss Personality) with her brilliant interpretation of her own composition “Reste”. The same year, she was honoured with the prize of “Jeunes Femmes Meritas” offered byCUMAJ.
These distinctions brought for her the opportunity to present at several singing events. Many opportunities resulted from it: The writing and the participation as singer in the group of “Emotion” formed by the Sizzle Records company. The first single “Chaque Minute Sans Toi ” written by Barbara, went to the top #5 on the charts for several weeks in Fredericton – CJPN (90.5 F.M.).
